Planning a Trip to Bali? Here’s what you should know
December 7, 2017

In case you’re planning your trip to Bali, one thing is for sure – it will be memorable. However, to make sure that you make the most out of your trip, check out some of the things that you should know about Bali before you go there:

Expect Crowds

Just like you, many people already heard about Bali and all of the amazing things it has to offer. So, instead of counting with an untouched paradise, make sure that you expect to find the real Bali, which can be particularly crowded.

In case you’re looking for some retreat, then make sure that you head to the north and west coasts, or to the central mountains.

The “Bali Belly”

You probably already heard about the Bali’s belly before. However, as long as you take some preventive measures, you’ll be just fine. All you need to do is to stay away from street food, the local liquor arak, and just being hydrated all the time with bottled water. While there are still some so-called restaurants that should have their doors closed, the truth is that over time, hygiene and quality have improved a lot in the island.

Dress The Right Way

While you’re on vacation and thinking about spending the day at the beach, at the end of the day you may want to go to a restaurant or a bar. However, some of them won’t let you get in with beachwear. So, make sure that you dress appropriately for each place.

Attend a Health Retreat

There are literally every type of health retreat and programs in Bali and they are all there waiting for you! Enjoy the fantastic experience of detoxing, Yoga or focusing on losing weight and getting back into fantastic shape.

Be Careful With Stray And Wild Animals

During your stay in Bali, you’ll notice that there are many stray dogs on the streets and, most of them, are in a bad shape. So, make sure that you are careful to not touch them. Plus, you’ll probably have the chance to see some monkeys while at Bali. However, make sure that you remember about rabies and other diseases.

Learn A Couple Of Expressions

Before you visit a different country, it’s always a good idea to know some of the most common expressions that you’re going to use. Some of them include good morning (“Selamat pag”), thank you (“Terima Kasih”), and please (“tolong”).

Mixed Prices

Bali is an extreme island in terms of prices. There’s no question that you can have a low-budget vacation if you’re planning on staying at guesthouses, shopping at local markets, and dining at warungs. However, Bali is also famous for the numerous spa treatments, meals, drinks, and even room rates that can be pretty expensive (think about the same you’d pay in the US or in the UK).
